Exploring the REVAMP Chlorophyll Atlas of the North Sea

ABSTRACT

In the REVAMP project, partners from countries littoral to the North Sea have joined forces to produce an atlas of chlorophyll-a concentrations in the North Sea for the year 2003, based on observations from the European MERIS instrument on the ENVISAT satellite.

In an interactive guided session we will guide through the data, using the BEAM Software. After an introduction to the digital version of the Atlas, in you can analyse the chlorophyll-a information products, including a selection from the following topics:

• The Belgian waters in April – Visualization and Statistics
• Evolution of a plankton bloom – Time series analysis
• Experiment 3: Extraction of CHL values for specific locations
• Experiment 4: Eutrophication indicator threshold – Band arithmetic
